This trip is a ministry based mission trip. Temple has been partnering with Appalachian Ministries of the Smokies for over 20 years now. AMOS as we like to call it, is a ministry of Carson-Newman University. They primarily operate three distinct areas: A Clothing & Food Bank, The Samaritan House Family Shelter, and the Home Repair Ministry. Each of these have volunteer opportunities available. Temple's group typically operates with the Home Repair ministry, but have had many people choose to help in the other areas as well. There are even opportunities to just help out around the ministry office so the staff can serve better! This trip is a low key, low stress trip that is a great first mission trip or also is a great Parent/Youth opportunity. It is also a good opportunity for older students who need services hours! - Temple General Missions Application
Responsibilities
- Evangelism
- Construction (Experience is a bonus, but not required)
- Sorting & Organizing supplies and food
- General Yardwork
Restrictions
- 14 years old or older (14-15yrs requires their parent/legal guardian going too)
- Member of Temple Church or a like-minded church
Preparation
- Attend interest meeting or Contact Greg Bruno
- Complete Registration Forms
- Fundraise if desired for Trip Costs
- Fundraise for "Temple Touch Fund"
